Little Red Riding Hood
We have been
learning to use present participles in our writing.
Skipping across
the brittle road, Little Red Riding
Hood met the great threat to the forest - the big bad wolf.
Grinning, the wolf
said, "Where are you going my dear?"
The wolf said,
"I’m going to my lonely grandma."
Smiling, the wolf
said, "Where does she live my dear?"
"She
lives in a small house up that hill."
Running to the
little house up the hill, the wolf opened
the door.
"Get out,
you filthy thing!" said the grandma.
Tying the poor
grandma up, the wolf threw her
into the closet, put on her clothes and hopped in the bed.
Opening the door, Little Red Riding came in. "I
bought you some cookies."
"Thanks,
my dear. Would you please shut the window?"
Out of the
blue, a man with a knife jumped through the window and killed the wolf and
opened the closet and untied the grandmother. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Touch and Netball
Glowing bright yellow, the sun and
the crisp morning awaited. My pounding heart was excited ready for the touch
tournament. The sun’s long sunshine arms invaded Paterson Park. My
pumping blood vessels were in joy.
[The whistle blew]
Dodging through Ngaruawahia, Logan as fast
as lightning. ran nearly all the way. Huffing and puffing, Logan lost
his breath. He could not breathe. His lungs were about to explode. He made it, dived and
scored.
Smiling in
joy, and yelling in each other’s faces, we paraded around Patterson Park saying
we won.

Winter Morning
We have been learning to use personification in our writing.
It was a wintry morning. I woke up about 3 o’clock in the morning and boy! It was cold! Brrrr! My fingers were frost bitten. My gloves warmed my frost bitten hands. I heard a tree whisper. I heard the wind whistling.

I went home and put Freddy in his tank and rolled it down the ice coated road. I pushed and pushed the tank until my body was frost bitten. I finally made to my house. I put the heat pump on and the fire I was nice and warm now.

Winter Morning
It was a wintry morning. I saw icicles invading the tree. I saw Jack Frost mowing the warm lawn into an icy lawn. I was lying on the warm grass. Suddenly, a big ball of snow landed on top of me.

The King Lizard Atacks
Hofman and Manu ran as fast as they could. They were chased by a komodo dragon 10 foot long and really fast. Hofman and Manu felt weaker and weaker. Suddenly they stopped. They hit a dead end. The komodo dragon, inches away, licked his chops with his big slobbery tongue. They stood face to face. The komodo dragon charged and bit them then the hospital immediately came and the komodo dragon retreated. Hofman and Manu were better and climbed up a big tree. The komodo dragon ran to that tree and waited. Hofman and Manu slid down. That clever dragon ripped chunks of meat off them.

Aumtumn poem
The trees leaves fall on the sun parched hill. one minute later the leaves got sun extinguish. The leaves were not grand and green any more. But they were crisp and crunchy. The autumn set in. crunch crack the leaves
Well done, Mark. You have chosen some descriptive words. When we write poems, we begin each idea on a new line, like this:
The tree's leaves fall on the sun-parched hill.
One minute later, the leaves got sun extinguish (Think about those words - what do they mean?)
The leaves were not grand and green anymore.
They were crisp and crunchy.
The autumn set in.
Crunch! Crack! The leaves ............

Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year
Happy Chinese New Year
Did You Know ....
That Chinese people invented fireworks
and tangrams. Tangrams are 7 shapes formed into an object. I made this cat.
Did You Know ............
Chinese have dragon parades.
There's red money envelopes that contain money and gold.
There is a panda bear, a spring festival and, 15 days later, they do a lantern festival and that is the end of the Chinese New Year.
